Availability of LIHEAP Funds

The Ouachita Multi-Purpose Action Program, Inc. announces the availability of an allocation of funds dedicated to assist eligible low-income households with their energy payments through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

An eligible household is one whose total income is at or below the levels listed in the table below and who have not received a previous benefit within the past 6-months. Income eligible applicants who have received a DISCONNECT NOTICE and who have not received assistance for a DISCONNECT NOTICE in the prior 12-months may also apply.

Applicants must provide , at a minimum, the specified forms of documentation listed below. If it is determined additional documentation is required the applicant will be notified at the time of application. Households reporting zero income must provide additional documentation. All information provided is subject to verification. Intentional misrepresentation of information may result in criminal prosecution of the applicant and anyone assisting in the misrepresentation.

All applications are taken; with appointments; on a first come, first served basis. If you have a DISCONNECT NOTICE or your service has been terminated (CRISIS), you may call (318)322-7151 or you may walk-in our office to schedule an appointment. If you do not have a  DISCONNECT NOTICE and your service is active (non-CRISIS), we are taking appointments. We serve customers beginning at 8:00 A.M.

Documentation Needed for LIHEAP Appointment

  1. Identification
    • Valid Personal Drivers License
    • Valid Identification Card
  2. Proof Of Income For Everyone In The Household
    • Last four (4) consecutive check stubs
    • 2018 Retirement Statement (or a bank statement confirming direct deposit)
    • 2018 SSI Statement (or a bank statement confirming direct deposit)
  3. Social Security Cards For All Household Members
  4. Electricity Bill
    • Bills must be within the last 6 months and for the same month
  5. Gas Bill
    • Bills must be within the last 6 months and for the same month
  6. Leases Or Rental Agreement
    • Only if your home address is different from the address on your identification
  7. Utility Allowance Worksheet
    • Only if you live in subsidized housing and are under 60 years of age
